Fraternity Life: Jim Crow Style

Hearing about what the different fraternity's at Auburn University made me sick. Yes being a southern school, most southern people attend the university but that doesn't give them the right to hang around a confederate flag and dress as black people. Seeing the different pictures of what the students did made me upset. (See pictures here: https://docs.google.com/present/view?id=0AVf_DLqQA9ovZGZ2bTR3ZmdfMGZ6M25iNWc2&hl=en_US) The behavior should be banned from campus due to all of the hatred that blacks have received in the past. This should be banned from campus because as it said in the article Jim Crow on Fraternity Row, "Thirty-seven years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act," Wes Williams, vice president for student affairs, said, "there is no acceptable explanation for the appearance of students in Ku Klux Klan robes or blackface." It was not okay for the black people to have to deal with harassment until the 1960s, so why would it make it okay for fraternities to make a joke out of it.
